International Student Services

Some of the facilities offered by University of Tasmania to overseas students include the presence of full time student advisors on the campus. Apart from this, there are also health services, study skills advice, tutoring in English. There is also an International Student Office and English Language Centre for the same purpose. Other services for the international students include the disability services, legal services, sports centre, housing services and employment assistance.

Accommodation

University of Tasmania offers its students new University Apartments located in Hobart. These apartments have been newly built and were only completed in 2004. Students on a limited budget can also go for the option of houses and shared flats with fellow international students. Students who opt for English Language Centre Students can also avail the option of Home stay.

Airport Pick Up

University of Tasmania also offers the facility of free pick up facility upon the arrival of new, international students into the country, at the airport.

Orientation Meetings

Though, the university does not conduct any single open day as such, the students or group of students are more than welcome to visit the campus and ask for any assistance prior to the commencement of classes. Apart from this, comprehensive orientation program is offered to students before the commencement of every new semester.

Opportunities to Study Abroad

The University of Tasmania offers its students a large number of offers to move out, study abroad and earn valuable international experience. Some of the aspects in which opportunities to go abroad to other countries and study in different universities is provided include Aquaculture, Aboriginal Studies, Australian Studies, Asian Studies, Environmental Studies, Life Sciences and Visual and Performing Arts. The university has a centre for Aquaculture located at Launceston campus. This centre is also considered as the National Key Centre for teaching and research in aquaculture.
