UNSW was established in the year 1949. It holds a respectable reputation in the academic community of the world for its innovative methods in research and teaching. It has been ranked as the 44th best University of the world in 2008 by The Times. It is one of the founders of an alliance which comprises of Australia’s eight leading Universities in the field of research. It is also a member of the Universities 21 group which comprises of the leading research and teaching institutions of the world. Only two other institutions in Australia are members of this prestigious consortium.

UNSW is home to over 40,000 students currently which include 9,000 students belonging to 130 different countries of the world such as Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, India, Vietnam and USA. The University campus is situated in Sydney which is the largest city of Australia. International Student Services

The Student centre assists international students in getting accustomed to the Australian lifestyle. Students can discuss personal as well as confidential matters with advisers regarding topics such as health, housing, study or finance. Pre-departure briefings, airport reception and accommodation arrangements are some of the activities taken care by the Student Services.

Accommodation

Self-contained apartments and residential colleges are available on campus of UNSW. The University also provides assistance in finding rented houses through its Housing Service. Mostly students opt for private homes, hostels, apartments and guest houses in suburbs nearby UNSW.

Airport Pickup

A reception counter is made available for students during their arrival times. The Student Centre takes care of this service. It also assists students in finding temporary accommodation.

Orientation Meetings

Orientation programs are conducted for new students which help them in familiarizing with the facilities and services of the campus, building new social contacts and friendships. The program provides extensive information regarding accommodation, transport, banking, shopping, health care and lifestyle in UNSW and Sydney.

Opportunities To Study Abroad

International students belonging to accredited Universities can opt for a full-time study for credit at UNSW for completing the requirements of their homeland’s degree program. Yearly as well as single semester credit programs are available covering over 60 disciplines at undergraduate as well as postgraduate level. International students can also opt for the University’s exchange program.
