The University of Adelaide is amongst the oldest universities located in Australia. The university is proudly associated with Noble Prize winners. One cannot deny the reputation and excellence gained by the university in field of education and research.

The University

The University of Adelaide was established in 1874 and holds the status of being the third oldest university of Australia. The university allowed women for the first time in Australia to get enrolled with science courses in 1881. The main campuses of the university are located in North Terrace, Waite, Roseworthy, The Barton and Singapore. Apart from these, there are many residential colleges, which came into existence with this university.

The university has 19,000 students enrolled with it and more than 4,000 students out of them are from countries abroad. The main campus is located in the City of Adelaide. The university offers as many as 120 programs for undergraduates and 200 programs for postgraduates. The university is also the member of Group of Eight, the team of universities dedicated towards research programs. There are five faculties associated with this university, including Health Sciences; Engineering, Computer & Mathematical Sciences; Humanities & Social Sciences; Professions and Sciences.

The Shanghai Jiao Tong University Rankings of 2005 chose the University of Adelaide amongst top 40 universities in Asia-Pacific region. Also, the university was selected amongst top 300 universities all over the world. The 2007 rankings of Times Higher Education Supplement placed the university at the rank of 62. The university holds the record of having association with 5 Noble Prize winners and 100 Rhodes scholars.
