Nursing
Nursing is considered to be one of the noblest professions where those who have a service oriented bent of mind derive great satisfaction from their work. Without nurses the medical field would be in doldrums. Very few realise that nurses are as important to the field of medicine as are doctors. The nursing profession is seen as a lucrative one by many for the pay or nurses are also great in many countries. In order to be a good nurse, studying nursing at the level of undergraduate is a must and that too from a university of repute. This is possible if the university where one pursues this course is an Australian University. Many Australian universities offer great courses that enable one to realise the dream of becoming a nurse and doing yeomen service to mankind.
University of New South Wales, University of Sydney, University of New England, Australian National University, University of Queensland, TAFE, University of Adelaide, James Cook University, Griffith University and University of Western Australia are some of the schools where nursing is offered as a course in undergraduate studies. One can take up nursing both at the undergraduate as well as the graduate level. At the undergraduate level, one has Bachelor of Nursing and Diploma in Nursing as some of the available courses. Apart from this, a Bachelor of Nursing with focus on mid wifery or Bachelor of Health with focus on a particular area is also possible. In order to gain entry into the bachelor’s course, a student is required to show consistently good academic record and knowledge of biology as a subject in grade 11 and grade 12 is a must. For foreign students, especially those from non English speaking nations, an IELTS score of 7 or above is a must. Some universities may waiver the IELTS criteria if the medium of instruction in the school last studied was English.
The advantage of an Australian University is that it offers plenty of exposure when it comes to practical work. This makes graduates with an Australian degree most sought after in the job market. Exchange programs, seminars by foreign lecturers and a global exposure together make the experience of studying a nursing course very interesting.
