Law
With the increase in the number of corporate organisations and people in the world, legal hassles and disputes are bound to be on a rise. This calls for more professional people to solve these disputes using legal means. Law is applicable to any kind of a dispute whether it is a social matter or a matter of breach of loyalty etc which can be tried by law. Lawyers are required to look into them and solve them in the most amicable way possible with minimum loss of money to the parties where it applies. Apart from this, rising number of crimes, petty thefts, divorce rates, family disputes and fight over wealth and property have also brought in a large demand for lawyers these days.
Law differs from one country to another but corporate law is pretty much the same in any part of the world. A good lawyer is required to have a good argumentative nature coupled with a strong basis in the fundamentals of the subject. He should also be able to play any situation to his advantage and make the jury decide in his favour. All this is possible when he has been trained for the job well. An Australian degree in law equips you with the necessary skill set required to become a successful lawyer. Besides the strong fundamentals in the subject matter, the mock practical court proceeding sessions that the courses include also give some practical exposure to the student. Universities of repute like the University of Sydney, University of Queensland, Victoria University, University of Adelaide, Australian National University, University of New England and University of New south Wales have good departments with trained faculty to teach law at both the undergraduate as well as the graduate level.
Most of the universities have tie ups with the industry which makes it easier for the graduates to get a job once they are out of the campus. This is an additional advantage of an Australian education. Bachelors of Law are the undergraduate courses for which good grades in class 12 is a must for admission into a good law school. International students may have to take the IELTS to demonstrate their proficiency in English. Following the bachelors is the master’s course. Students may of may not wish to opt for the masters in law option. However this option puts them in a better position for getting a good job.
