Accounting
Accounting is an interesting field of study for those students who are looking to build a career in share broking or in accountancy. Undergraduate courses are available in this field of study and are offered by many good universities like Australian National University, University of Queensland, and University of New South Wales and so on. These courses strengthen your fundamentals in the field and prepare you for a professional career or you can build upon this by opting for further studies in the same field. For further studies, a graduate degree is required.
Courses Description
Some of the graduate certificate courses available in this field include Masters in Accounting and Financial Management. This is a graduate course which is to be undertaken after a basic degree. While many universities do not ask for a basic degree in finance or accounting, some do insist. Universities like Charles Sturt University (CSU) offer a certificate program which can be undertaken through long distance mode of study or even as an online course. Such modes of study are especially useful for working professionals or mothers who cannot attend university full time due to various commitments.
The Graduate Certificate Program duration is two years during which courses covering finance, accounting, business management and related subjects will be undertaken as part of the curriculum. The course is designed in such a way that the students get exposure to real time problems when they are studying. This is done by undertaking case studies. Cases are problems which are being faced by organisations related to accounting. So as a student of accounting, they will be required to solve these issues or come up with suggestions. This helps them better to begin a career immediately after graduating. This practical focus helps students make full use of their study experience in the university.
Entry Requirements
Before applying for this course, you must have completed a basic degree from any recognised university within or outside Australia. For foreign nationals, an IELTS score may be required for proving their proficiency in English. This requirement however varied from one university to another. Some cases, if the medium of instruction in the university where you studied your bachelors is English, IELTS requirement may be waived. Some colleges may also ask for a GMAT score. Fees and scholarships vary from year to year. Hence for the most recent information on scholarship and fee details, please visit the respective universities where you wish to study.
